Daikozenji Temple

Located in Kiyama Town, Saga Prefecture, Daikozenji Temple is a historic site established in 717 AD by the revered monk Gyoki, who enshrined the Eleven-Faced Kannon. With its centuries-old legacy and breathtaking seasonal beauty, the temple offers visitors a peaceful and reflective retreat.

A Temple Adorned with Seasonal Blossoms

Renowned as a "Temple of Flowers," Daikozenji is especially celebrated for its azaleas in spring and autumn foliage. In the "Chigirien" garden, approximately 50,000 azalea plants burst into vibrant colors, offering a mesmerizing spectacle. Come autumn, the temple grounds are enveloped in crimson hues, with the thatched-roof main hall providing a picturesque backdrop.

Exploring the Historic Grounds

The temple grounds feature historical structures such as the 127-step stone staircase known as "Kibou no Saka" and the thatched-roof main hall, each narrating tales from the temple's rich past.

A Sanctuary for Lovers

In 2012, Daikozenji's Chigiriyama was designated as a "Lovers' Sanctuary," making it a favored spot for couples seeking a romantic and serene setting amidst natural beauty.

 

Access Information

Daikozenji Temple is approximately a 10-minute drive from JR Kiyama Station or a 20-minute drive from JR Tosu Station. Ample parking facilities are available for visitors.​
