Gattan Go!!: Pedaling Through Japan’s Hidden Rails and Wild Beauty

For travelers craving something beyond Japan’s well-trodden paths, Gattan Go!! delivers a one-of-a-kind adventure through the rustic charm of Hida. Set in Gifu Prefecture’s scenic mountains, this rail biking experience invites visitors to ride repurposed train tracks once used for transporting ore in the historic mining town of Kamioka.

Two distinct courses let you discover the natural beauty and engineering legacy of this hidden region, all while pedaling along real railway lines.

Machinaka Course: A Scenic Pedal Through Seasons and Streets

The Machinaka Course spans approximately 5.8 km round trip, following a gentle route from Okuhida-Onsenguchi Station to the old Kamioka Mine Station.

In spring, cherry trees burst into bloom along the tracks near the departure station, offering a fragrant canopy of petals. Come autumn, the surrounding hills of Hida transform into a blaze of gold, providing a different kind of enchantment.

This course is ideal for those who want to soak up the seasonal scenery in a relaxing, non-strenuous ride.

The Keikoku Course: For the Adventurous at Heart

For those seeking a more thrilling experience, the Keikoku Course offers a 6.6 km round trip through the valleys, featuring large bridges and iron structures that provide both excitement and breathtaking views. This course is recommended for adults and those looking for a bit of adrenaline amidst nature.
