The museum features beautifully preserved passenger cars, an impressive large-scale diorama, and a realistic driving simulator where you can try operating a train yourself. From station staff uniforms and vintage tickets to outdoor displays including steam locomotives and sleeper trains, the exhibits are packed with treasures loved by railway fans of all ages. (Closed several days a year for maintenance.)

Experience Japan’s slowest and shortest sightseeing train! The Shiokaze-go travels along a former freight rail line, running just 2.1 km in about 10 minutes between Kyushu Railway History Museum Station and Kanmon Kaikyo Mekari Station. With a maximum speed of only 15 km/h, you can enjoy a leisurely ride through Mojiko’s charming retro townscape, tunnels with fun lighting effects, and breathtaking sea views of the Kanmon Strait.

Just steps from the Shiokaze-go’s final stop, Mekari Park offers expansive green space stretching across 37 hectares. At Fork Plaza, you can watch ships pass through the narrow Kanmon Strait, sometimes even spotting massive cruise liners up close. It’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy the sea breeze.
