A Vineyard Dream Rooted in Okagaki

The Budounoki Group began in Okagaki Town and has grown into a local resort business with restaurants, accommodations, and wedding services. At the heart of its winemaking journey is a long-held dream: to make wine from grapes grown in its own vineyards. In November 2021, Budounoki Winery opened in Okagaki, making this dream a reality and producing original wines from grapes grown locally.

Fresh Flavors Through Gentle, Cold Fermentation

Budounoki Winery uses low-temperature fermentation to preserve the natural aroma and fruitiness of its grapes. By avoiding heat treatment, the winery aims to create wines with a fresh taste. The winery’s winemaking knowledge has been developed through experience in Japan and overseas, including at wineries in New Zealand and Australia. Its wines are also characterized by relatively low alcohol content and limited use of antioxidants, making them easy to enjoy with a variety of meals.

A Tasting & Retail Space with Around 80 Wines

The winery’s shop offers tastings and sales of original wines made from grapes grown in its own vineyards. In addition, the wine shop carries around 80 carefully selected wines from Japan and around the world. The shop also offers accompaniments to enjoy with wine.

Winery tours are available by advance reservation, giving visitors an opportunity to learn more about the winemaking process. Reservations are required at least one week in advance, with tours offered at 11:00 and 15:00.

Where a Three-Generation Dream Became a Winery

Budounoki Winery is the result of a dream shared across three generations of the family. From growing their own grapes to making wine in their own winery, the project reflects years of learning and dedication to winemaking.

Whether tasting the winery’s original wines, choosing a bottle from its selection of wines, or joining a tour, visitors can discover a different side of Okagaki through its local grapes and winemaking tradition.
