Michi-no-Eki Kurukuru Naruto

A New Roadside Station Born in the Town of Whirlpools

Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture — known for the Ōnaruto Bridge and the powerful whirlpools of the Naruto Strait — welcomed a new addition in 2022: Michi-no-Eki Kurukuru Naruto.
The name reflects the swirling whirlpools (“kurukuru”) and carries the hope that people will connect and smiles will spread like the tides.
Far beyond a simple rest stop, this roadside station is drawing attention as a tourism hub where visitors can experience the local charm with all five senses.

Gourmet Delights and a Market Full of Naruto Flavors

At the Marché and Sales Corner, you'll find a wide variety of local products, including Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes, Naruto wakame seaweed, fresh produce, regional specialties, and distinctive Tokushima souvenirs.

At the Osakana Kaisen Ichiba Totomaru, guests can enjoy takeaway sashimi, sushi, and seafood rice bowls featuring Naruto sea bream and seasonal local catches.
※Please note that menu items may vary depending on the season and daily availability.

Also, Imoya Narifuku is beloved for its gokuboso kenpi (extra-thin candied sweet potato sticks) and daigaku-imo (candied sweet potatoes).
Their gentle sweetness and natural flavors capture the hearts of many.

Picture-Perfect Naruto Moments

At the on-site dining hall Kurukuru Naruto Ōuzu Shokudō, the beautifully presented Ōuzu Goshoku-don (Five-Color Seafood Bowl) and Kurukuru Ōuzu Kaisendon (Swirling Grand Whirlpool Seafood Bowl) are especially popular.
Each bowl is carefully arranged with colorful ingredients, offering not just a delicious meal but also a perfect photo opportunity to remember your trip.

Additionally, the café Horetate Kitchen and the Western-style sweet shop Oimo, Naru. serve up desserts made with Naruto Kintoki sweet potatoes that are both eye-catching and delicious.

More Than a Stop — A Destination in Itself

Michi-no-Eki Kurukuru Naruto is not just a place to stop by; it’s a destination where you can experience the food culture, natural bounty, and warm hospitality of the Naruto area.

When visiting Naruto, be sure to drop by “kurukuru” and enjoy your very own Naruto experience.
