Located in Kokuraminami Ward, Kitakyushu, Mitsutake Plum Grove Park is one of the city’s well-known plum blossom spots. Covering approximately 10,000 square meters, the park is home to around 350 red and white plum trees, creating a beautiful seasonal landscape in late winter and early spring.

A Legacy of Local Tradition

The history of Mitsutake Plum Grove began when local residents planted plum trees to commemorate the marriage of Emperor Showa. The site was later developed by Kitakyushu City and opened as Mitsutake Plum Grove Park in 1979.

Today, the grove continues to be enjoyed as a local place for appreciating the beauty and fragrance of plum blossoms.

A Seasonal Display of Red and White Blossoms

The plum blossoms generally bloom from late January to early March, filling the grove with shades of red and white and the gentle fragrance of plum.

Around the peak blooming season, handmade agricultural products are sold at temporary stalls, adding a local touch to the seasonal experience.
