Battleship Island : A UNESCO World Heritage Site that preserves the remnants of a town that flourished due to coal mining.

Gunkanjima, also known as Battleship Island, is an artificial island located about 40 minutes by boat from Nagasaki Port. Situated off the coast, it was created by land reclamation around rocky outcrops. The entire island is surrounded by a seawall, and its distinctive appearance features towering reinforced concrete structures. In 2015, Gunkanjima was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
