Rethink the Environment — Transform Awareness into Action

This interactive facility allows visitors to learn in a fun and engaging way about Kitakyushu’s history of overcoming pollution, global environmental challenges, everyday eco-friendly actions, and the environmental initiatives of citizens and businesses.

By exploring the history of Kitakyushu as an “SDGs Future City,” students gain insight into the city’s environmental transformation and are encouraged to reflect on its future direction. The experience inspires each individual to think proactively about a sustainable future and take meaningful action.

Experiential Learning Programs

On-demand programs can be arranged according to group size and educational objectives.

Program Examples

Exhibition Guidance Emphasizing “Inquiry”

The guide does not simply deliver one-sided explanations; by posing questions to visitors and encouraging them to think, participants deepen their understanding of Kitakyushu City's history of pollution and its environmental policies.

SDGs Mapping

While touring the Environmental Museum main building—designed with numerous eco-conscious features—and the environmental symbiosis model home “Kitakyushu Eco House,” participants identify and plot systems that contribute to achieving the SDGs on a map. Discussions are held to explore why these systems are important.

Creating an SDGs Future Newspaper

Through group discussions, participants will complete and present a newspaper depicting their vision of the future, born from free-flowing ideas.
